I have an opportunity to get a good deal on a JBA cat-back exhaust system for my 2004 Denali XL (6.0L).
What do you guys think of JBA? Good quality? How is the sound....I do NOT want a roaring exhaust that will drone when I am cruising on the freeway. Being loud during acceleration is good, but I not while I am on long drives/cruising, etc.
Anyway...what do you guys think? Should I stick with Magnaflow or Borla or other more mainstream (and more expensive) exhaust systems?

Welcome to the site! I honestly didn't know JBA made complete systems. Back when I was researching headers I heard wonderful things about them.
I'd be very leery of that system unless you get the opportunity to hear one for yourself. GM's 6.0L is known to have issues with a large number of aftermarket mufflers - with the result being the resonance/drone you describe.
I can offer personal experience with two mufflers. First, Magnaflow's 22" (my particular p/n is 12568 - 2.5" di/do). This one has a very nice tone, with plenty of sound under heavy throttle, but a nice mellow burble at cruise. There is a bit of resonance in the > 2,200RPM range, but if you don't cruise in the 80mph range, you'll rarely encounter it. The same applies under load in top gear - climbing hills at highway speeds, for example. My wife is running this in her '04 XL, and we've been really happy with it. Honestly, if no one sits in the third row, you may never even notice the resonance.
The second one is the Flowmaster 70 Series Big Block II. The quality of the sound pretty much mirrors the Magnaflow, but with even less resonance. The character of sound is pure Flowmaster. This one is even louder outside the truck, but is darn near silent at cruising speeds.
Feel free to check out a few galleries for sound files if that'll help:

Good luck!

Sounds great! So is that a full JBA system? What's the size of the muffler? Is it si/so? I'm guessing that's the 5.3L engine?

I've never used JBA exhaust but I've been hearing good things about it as well. By the way, good posts up there.
