Poison Spyder Trail Corners for the Jeep LJ
The corners on all Jeep TJ’s and LJ’s are very vulnerable to damage on the trail and can be hard to fix. There is a way to protect your rig on the trail that is easy to bolt on and can be done in a single afternoon.
Poison Spyder Customs offers the Trail Corner armor for both the TJ and the LJ to provide added protection to your Jeep. The Corner armor is secured with 1/4" Nickel Plated hardware and all the mounting holes, gas filler, taillight and license plate holes are pre-cut for easy installation.
Trail corners are built from 3/16" steel and are precision formed for perfect fitment. The Trail Corner armor is powder coated black and ready for installation. The best thing is that these Trail Corners are less than $200, and come ready to use with the stock Jeep lighting (or come with the option to add LED lighting).
Install
The time to install the Trail Corners is no more than three hours, tops. You will need to drill into your tub to mount the Trail Corners using a ¼” drill bit and other hand tools.
Park your Jeep, and engage the emergency brake. Now you need to remove all of the following:
-Tail lights
-Gas filler cover
Note: Make sure you keep all of the mounting hardware as you will need it to reinstall the above items
Final thoughts
The install went pretty easy, with no surprises. There might be a small gap between the corner and the tub of the Jeep and Poison Spyder suggests that you form it to fit but you need to be careful not to over do it as you may crack the powder-coating. If the gap is still there, you can use a silicon sealant to keep out the water. Overall, this is great bolt on armor that is well made and can be done by the average person in an afternoon.
